Frederick Leighton, Flaming June (1895; Museo de Arte de Ponce).

Seen this often but did not know the painter. One of the better pre-Raphaelites.

About kinneret

Hello, and welcome. I'm writing this blog under an alias. Why an alias? I started to write what may be described as an "American Gothic" novel (sort of Henry James/ Franz Kafka with violence) with some autobiographical details. ..when I started this blog I just decided to use the alias. This blog is about art and art history, but my interests also include literature, film analysis, psychology, forensic psychology, faerie tale analysis, cognitive therapy, cognitive linguistics, classical theater, World War II, and Russian and British history. My favorite writers include Kafka, the Brontes, and Philip K Dick. Thank you for reading this blog and I will happily reply to any comments.

Hey you. I wrote a poem in your honor ¥ Eyes Wide Open) but i didn’t know how to link your user addy. It’s a week or so down on my page. Hope you like it.

    • kinneret says:

Thank you! I will look at your page! I was pretty busy before the holiday and miserable about turning down my only job offer.

      • thefeatheredsleep says:

Oh what happened? I’m really sorry I know how awful that feels, trust your instincts because there would be good reason I think, why you did.

And there’s two Jewish themed ones. One after our convo abt Viktor Frankel. The other about defending our people. I miss you. Hope everything is good for you.

    • kinneret says:

Wow really? I love Viktor Frankel. Le Shana Tova! I am OK thanks but no job prospects. Turned down a teaching job that was assistant teaching kid with ASD, dyslexia, ADHD at a private school with $50K tuition that was offering $29K for FT work!

      • thefeatheredsleep says:

Insane! Okay so now I see why! No wonder! Offensive! Yes we talked about Frankel and it got me thinking and writing, so thank YOU. Inspired friend. I’m sorry about the job. See it as not really an offer as it was so ludicrous who would aside a recent grad with trust fund, take it? Not turning down seriously so much as knowing and owning your worth.

      • kinneret says:

Right, you are right. I really would like to do something where I could just make art/writing. I guess we’ll see. I’m thinking about other things too–maybe mental health licensure (so I can finally put myself away!)

  3. I have a print of this piece, but I can never remember where I got it!! I love it though!
