   The story of the last supper is found in Matt. 8: 23, Mark 14: 18 and 20, Luke 22: 21-, and John 13: 26, and the painting is somewhat accurate, explanation to follow. Jesus told his disciples who would betray him. Judas is, of course, the one without a halo, and he is the only one taking food, food WHICH IS NOT KOSHER and never served at Passover! Further, Scripture tells us that just after Judas ate the food, Satan entered him. Is that the cat approaching Judas in the lower left of the painting? And is the rodent on a plate a sign of the character of those who would betray Messiah?
   Luke 22 tells us that at first, after hearing the news of betrayal and death, the all denied that they would do such a thing. Then, very shortly after, the spirit “It’s all about me” set in, and so the prediction of soon-to-come murder of the son of God was followed by who would be the greatest, verse 24. The comment then given by Jesus is a great teaching for all, especially today, not just for those at the table., verses 25-27, read them for yourselves.

   I don’t know what that food is supposed to be that is represented…the paschal lamb? Looks like it to me. I think a commandment to eat during the Passover? Now we generally just have a shank bone on the table, which is not necessarily from a lamb. Lamb would be kosher.

   It doesn’t look like lamb, it appears similar to opossum upon enlargement.

       I will agree with the not a possum point of view, and I adjust my “similar to” with “somewhat similar to” theory. The picture needs to be enlarged to arrive at a conclusion.
       By the way, that night was REALLY different from ALL the others.
