Fra Angelico, c. 1395[2] – February 18, 1455) was an Early Italian Renaissance painter described by Vasari in his Lives of the Most Excellent Painters, Sculptors, and Architects as having “a rare and perfect talent.” More below.
Fra Angelico, The Annunciation

Interesting facts from Wikipedia: “All of his many paintings were of divine subjects, and it seems that he never altered or retouched them, perhaps from a religious conviction that, because his paintings were divinely inspired, they should retain their original form.” This is rather fascinating.
Also, “he never handled a brush without fervent prayer and he wept when he painted a Crucifixion.”

About kinneret
Hello, and welcome.
I'm writing this blog under an alias. Why an alias?
I started to write what may be described as an "American Gothic" novel (sort of Henry James/ Franz Kafka with violence) with some autobiographical details. ..when I started this blog I just decided to use the alias.
This blog is about art and art history, but my interests also include literature, film analysis, psychology, forensic psychology, faerie tale analysis, cognitive therapy, cognitive linguistics, classical theater, World War II, and Russian and British history. My favorite writers include Kafka, the Brontes, and Philip K Dick. Thank you for reading this blog and I will happily reply to any comments.
i’m a amazed by italian contribution to Art from Renaissance until now. i don’t know why, maybe the perfection and the finish of their work give them a special touch that make us wonder.
I think the most beautiful art to visit (in terms of works) is in Florence, at the Uffizi.
it’s on my list. in Florence i want to see especially the architectural master piece of brunelleschi’ dome.

Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol, now do you see where you went wrong? A great work, clear, deceivingly detailed, simple in appearance. I believe he had the perfect technique for himself.
